
A former Dean of the Division of Environmental & Life Sciences at Macquarie University, he has a special interest in population-health-environment interactions and the geography of public health. As well as having written seven books and more than 150 papers, he writes regularly for the national media in Australia and New Zealand on health issues.

Dr Desmarchelier has worked extensively in research, teaching and consultation in food safety and the management of food safety risks. She has published extensively in scientific journals and book chapters and presented at numerous national and international science conferences on the ecology and control of food borne pathogens.

Dr Dwyer trained at St Vincents and Westmead Hospitals in Sydney, and undertook postgraduate research at the Institute Pasteur in Paris, France. He has a clinical and research interest in viral diseases of public health importance eg HIV, influenza and arboviruses, antiviral drugs and drug resistance. Dr Dwyer is a member of various Commonwealth and State committees related to communicable diseases. He assisted WHO in Beijing during the SARS outbreak in 2003.

Dr Scott is a Senior Research fellow at the University of Melbourne, Asia Pacific Centre for Animal Health, as the coordinator of applied research. Dr Scott holds various industry positions and has published numerous papers dealing with avian medicine.
